Current Projects:

  • The College of Suny at Old Westbury:
    Planting in the forest as the College is located on 620 acres... PTSD 837 provides plant material for many of the clubs who participate in the beautifying of the grounds. Last spring the students were featured in Newsday.

  • The Cooley High School Reuse Project:
    Coley High School is a Historic Landmark located on 17 acres in Detroit. PTSD 837 has provided plant material the past few years for their planting clean-up project. The reuse project is rebuilding a whole neighborhood of blight.

  • 811X The Academy for Career and Living Skills in the Bronx:
    They have green houses in each classroom, 811X is a school where students age 14-21 learn life skills.

  • The New York City Housing Authority:
    They several hundred buildings Manhattan, Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island. NYCHA receives large Green Grants from PTSD 837 each year. The Community Gardens NYCHA provides is sometimes the only green space the residents have available to use.

  • The Mississippi Renaissance Garden Foundation:
    The "Horticulture for Humanity" project is creating the only coastal public garden.  The garden honors the spirit of the Mississippi people, first responders as well as military heroes while working with the VA which is located next door. They use the garden as a tool to connect individuals with the environment.
